Artwork ID

The Artwork ID is a mandatory field that identifies each artwork within your inventory and tells it apart from the rest.

What is the ID for?

The ID lets you:

  1. Identify each artwork uniquely.
  2. Tell artworks apart within your inventory.
  3. Make advanced searches easier.
  4. Find untitled artworks or ones with similar names.

How to add the ID to an artwork

You can set the ID using different naming schemes, depending on how you want to organise your inventory.

ITGallery offers two automated options:

ID linked to the artist

Lets you generate IDs based on the artist, using a prefix and numbering per artist.

  1. Go to the Artists module.
  2. Create or edit an artist.
  3. Fill in the fields:
    • Prefix
    • Number
  4. Save the artist's details.

From then on, that artist's artworks will use that reference to generate their ID.

Example:

If you set the prefix AB for an artist, the artworks will be numbered: AB1, AB2, AB3…

Global ID

Lets you use an alphanumeric ID for every item in your database, independent of the artist.

  1. Go to My Gallery → Configuration.
  2. Within Autonumbering, find Artwork inventory ID.
  3. Enter the code you want to use.

When you create a new artwork, the system will automatically suggest the next number as the inventory ID.

Example: you can use a global format such as: GalleryDEMO-0001, GalleryDEMO-0002, GalleryDEMO-0003
