Artwork tags
Add tags to your artworks to classify them using your own criteria and find them more easily in searches and filters.
Tags are flexible fields for adding complementary information to an artwork. You can use them to organise your inventory by criteria that the other fields on the record do not cover.
What artwork tags are for

Tags let you categorise artworks by criteria specific to your gallery.
You can use them, for example, to classify artworks by:
- Historical periods.
- Themes.
- Artistic styles.
- Series or lines of work.
- Techniques or internal concepts.
- Your own commercial or organisational criteria.
This lets you search more precisely and group artworks according to particular needs.
How to add tags to an artwork
You can add tags directly when creating or editing an artwork.

- Go to the Artworks module.
- Create a new artwork or open an existing one.
- Find the Tags field.
- Type the tag you want to add.
- Save your changes.
- You can add as many tags as you need to the same artwork.
Add tags to several artworks at once
You can also add tags to existing artworks using the Edit selected option in the artworks list.
This option is useful if you want to classify several artworks with the same tag without having to open each record individually.

- Go to the Artworks module.
- Select the artworks you want to add the tag to.
- Click Edit selected.
- Add the relevant tag in the Tags field.
- Save your changes.
Manage tags from the settings
You can also review, edit or add tags from the gallery settings.

- Go to My Gallery.
- Open Configuration.
- Go to Artworks tags.
- Review, edit or add the tags you need.
Tip
Use this section to review the tags already in use and keep consistent naming across your whole inventory.
Recommendations for using tags
- Decide on clear naming before creating a lot of tags.
- Avoid creating unnecessary variants of the same tag.
- Use specific tags, but ones that are easy to remember.
- Review your tags from time to time in My Gallery → Configuration → Artworks tags.
For example, it is better to keep a single form:
- Abstract art
Than to create several variants:
- Abstract
- Abstraction
- Abstract art
- Arte abstracto
Tip
Organising your tags well improves searches and avoids duplicates within your inventory.
Using commas in tags
In the Tags field, the comma marks where one tag ends and the next begins.
If you type: Portrait, Black and white, Featured artwork the system will read it as three different tags:
- Portrait
- Black and white
- Featured artwork
So do not use commas inside the name of a tag.
If you want to create a tag made up of several words, write it without commas:
- Contemporary art
- Work on paper
- Blue series
- Black and white portrait
