Artwork owner
The Owner field on an artwork record lets you record who currently owns the piece, whether that is an artist, a collector, an institution or another entity.
What is it for?
It is an informational field for recording ownership of the artwork. It lets you keep internal control, but it is not linked to the sale or to the main contact of the artwork. It can be useful in cases such as artworks on consignment or deposit, artworks on loan, pieces in a private collection or any other situation where the owner is someone else.
Add an artwork owner

- Before recording the information, bear in mind that the owner must already be recorded as a contact in your account.
- When creating or editing an artwork, if you select Collection or Third party, a box will appear under the Owner field that lets you assign the owner by searching among your recorded contacts.
- You can then see the ownership details from each artwork record.
Add owners in bulk
You can also assign or change the owner of several artworks at once using bulk edit.
This option is useful when you need to update a group of artworks belonging to the same owner without opening each record one by one.
