Edit contacts in bulk
Edit several contacts at once from the list to update the same piece of data on several records.

This tool is useful when you need to apply the same change to a group of contacts - for example, adding a tag, assigning a person responsible or updating a common field.
Edit several contacts at once

- Go to Contacts > List.
- Select the contacts you want to change.
- Click Show only selected to review only the contacts you are going to apply the changes to.
- Click Tools, in the top right of the list.
- Select Edit selected.
- Fill in only the fields you want to change.
- Click Save.
What happens when you edit contacts in bulk
The fields you fill in are applied to every contact selected.
Before selecting the edit tool, you can use Show only selected to check which contacts are part of the selection. This helps avoid accidental changes to contacts you did not mean to modify
So, before saving, check carefully:
- which contacts you have selected;
- which fields you have filled in;
- whether the change should be added to the existing information or replace it.
Important
If you fill in a field that already had information recorded on some of those contacts, the new data may overwrite the previous information.
In the case of tags, ITGallery lets you choose between:
- Adding the new tags to the existing ones.
- Overwriting the previous tags.

You can use bulk editing to update common information on several contacts, for example:
- Assigning the same responsible.
- Adding a tag.
- Changing the contact type.
- Updating the language.
- Marking contacts as saved for mailing or for postal mail, if relevant.

Before editing contacts in bulk, you can use the advanced search to find exactly the group of contacts you want to change.
